BetterTV Hosts take shots at Venus’ wardrobe malfunctions too far…

Although it has yet to be confirmed, Bossip made a post about BetterTV host and alleged future womb-warrior for Matthew Knowles’ seed, Alexandra Wright (whose real name is Andra Lowe). I’m sad to say that this post isn’t about their relationship AT ALL though.

It wasn’t until I got to college that I realized just how senseless and petty the female species can be. I saw just why we have allowed our own fear and malicious intent to get in the way of connecting, communicating and growing with each other. It’s shameful. Gossiping about each other, plotting on each others mates and just being plain conniving only scratches the surface.

No race is eliminated from the category although black females lead the pack in this one. With STRONG black female alliances like Black Girls Rock, Essence, WEEN, NABFEME and several others, the unity within industry females is PISS POOR. Is it considered lame now to be a voice of strength to another woman who many not be having a good day? Is it only the mans job to uplift, encourage and compliment the ladies?

Alexandra Wright was extremely out of line for the comments that were made about Venus Williams and the controversy surrounding her wardrobe “malfunctions”. It wasn’t really the fact that she commented on the issue…it was the manner in which she delivered her opinions and HOW MANY TIMES she reiterated it. I’m ignoring the fact that she continuously claims how “nasty” Venus’ behind looked because she honestly sounded envious.

Instead of congratulating the sister her performance at the match, she joined another “envious” woman in making fun of Venus’ shapely curves and protruding backside.

Bloggers, media and critics have been taking hard shots at Venus for her choice of color and style of court wear but Venus politely served this nice rebuttal.

Via NY Daily News

Williams took to Twitter to explain that she, in fact, has on her knickers.

“I am wearing undershorts the same color as my skin, so it gives the slits in my dress the full effect!” she wrote.

Williams, who has her own fashion line, called EleVen, noted: “My dress for the Australian Open has been one of my best designs ever! It’s all about the slits and V neck.”

“Anything I wear on the court probably you can wear 20 years from now,” she boasted.

If Venus didn’t have all that donk and a body fit for a queen, no one would be buggin’. *kayne shrugs* I’m just sayin’…

Open Letters: Janky Club Promoters & Employees

Look, I know that times are rough and everyone from the bartenders to the lady in the bathroom selling Trojans and Lemonheads needs their cut at the end of the night. But this is a notice to all my folk who work in the club as a bouncer/security, hostess/waitress, bartender, DJ, manager, promoter, street team or “talent”:

I am really elated that you’ve decided to extend one of the few times a year that you get to exercise your muscle on the job to me. I know this has to be a big time for you…truly. Now, I am going to take it that you telling me to “come up to the door, I got you” translates to “if you come to the door at my job tonight, I am going to make sure you gain entrance…free of charge”.

Correct me if I’m wrong at any time.

I know you want an opportunity to boast on the new job as Top Flight Security,  DJ Such-and-Such or WHOMEVER but unless you are hella tight with the head management/promoters on staff,  extending blank field trips to your job isn’t kosher.

Although this doesn’t happen to me often (or even rarely for that fact), I’d much rather not hear any excuses at the door that sound something like “the boss man is tripping” or “dang, you should have come earlier, I can’t do nothing for you now”.

Sidebar: Inviting me out and telling me to get there before 12am is brainless. What person in AMERICA doesn’t know that practically every club allows ladies in free before midnight! You wouldn’t be getting me in for free…you’d just be speeding up the entrance process.

In short, it’s 2010. If you don’t have enough pull to get your folks in the club regardless of the time, try to refrain from wreckless invi’s you can’t fulfill…I may be forced to call that ass out. Please and thank you.

Take it light,

Tuesday Knight

Get the Memo: Kim Porter “serves some” to the paps with class X 3bg & Estelle Album Listening Suite X BET Honors & Diddy

I would hope that women in entertainment PERIOD would take a glimpse at how you are REALLY supposed to handle the paparazzi. We all know that the paps have no limits to what they will ask or say. But Kim Porter let it be known with the quickness that discussions of her family and personal life were off limits. The fact that folk feel the need to pick sides, patronize and include her in the “Battle of the Bad Boy Baby Mamas” is foolish!

While most view Kim mainly as the ex-girlfriend and the mother of 4 (3 with Sean “Diddy” Combs), people ignore the fact that she is a business woman and entrepreneur as well.

Via Revival of Our Artistic Roots

Three Brown Girls in the year 2004 launched a company that captivated society and became the ultimate answer to marketing experts in search of their next ingenious campaign. Being pioneers in their industry, longtime friends, experienced in several fields, and having heavy connections to the stars, Kim Porter, Nicole Cooke- Johnson, and Eboni Elektra formed the industry’s first Ultra-Tainment firm aiming to fill a void in the entertainment, television, music and fashion sectors. Although they quickly became labeled as brand ambassadors, other services include celebrity hosting and stellar event production.

Last weekend, 3BG hosted Estelle’s album listening party in LA in true Grammy style! Branding maven and publicist Marvel Britto and several other public figures made appearances for all that is Estelle! Kim Porter beamed and blushed for the camera as a true hostess does and looked DIVINE doing so! Don’t believe me? Head on over to Bitchie Land for the scoop!

And you can’t mention Diddy without mentioning the BET Honors that premiered last week. His speech was centered around being raised by his hard-working, single mother and how she inspired the almighty “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” tag line we so love today. I’ve included a recap of MJB killing a retro dedication as an extra treat!

Send me a tweet! @tuesdayknight!

Junkie Flicks: B.o.B. – “Put Me On”

True Story: So, my friend and I were sitting around one day catching up on the week and I noticed that her eye contact was very wavy. After a few seconds she blurts out, “My fault girl, but damn this dude is fine!”

So I whip my head around and long behold…it’s Bobby Ray! And looking quite dapper and appealing in his new video (but fairly old video) “Put Me On.” Needless to say, you’ve grown into much more than just your head Bobby Ray, lol! *wink*

MTV Jamz has been keeping this video in heavy rotation this past month. I am elated to witness B.o.B./Bobby Ray getting his just due. If you don’t know his story or haven’t had the opportunity to witness his art, please visit his SITE or MYSPACE. And as always don’t forget to tell em who sent you!

FuseBox Radio broadcast for week of January 20, 2010

Direct mp3 Download (right click and “save as”)
Direct mp3 Download Backup (right click and “save as”; via Blip.TV)

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of January 20, 2010 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.

Our extended commentary this week focused on the current tragedy with the earthquake aftermath in Haiti, including the current casualties, what are other countries going to offer in regards to accepting Haitians of all ages into their countries post-recovery, worries of profiteering off of Haiti’s issues pre- and post-recovery, the ignorant statements of Pat Robertson & Rush Limbaugh and some other things.

We also talked about the current Cybersecurity Act of 2009 draft that’s out in the U.S. now that could give the president the right to shut down the internet with their own definition of “danger”, NBA Basketball player Washington Wizard star Gilbert Arenas’ current legal troubles & how that ties in to Black Athlete stereotypes and other things here and there.

During this week’s show, we had a great interview with Brooklyn, NY’s own independent Hip-Hop MC G3MZ (http://www.myspace.com/g3mz; http://ElegantHoodness.ning.com).

Some of the topics we’ve touched base on included G3MZ’s musical & family background, his current feeling about the NYC Hip-Hop scene for both good and bad & it’s need to change, the lack of respect lately for lyrical MCs via the mainstream and beyond, personal and other politics of the music business, his upcoming mixtape and album projects, how he connected with the N.A.N./Elegant Hoodness movement and a lot more!

There is a new episode of Black Agenda Report in this week’s broadcast but none for Direct EFX (due to not receiving before broadcast time).

Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast over at our official blog, BlackRadioIsBack.com – all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

Every Drop Counts…

This is what I really wanted to say in my last post! Please support the cause! These brothers and sisters are doing a great thing for those slackers scattered throughout the hip-hop/entertainment community. Please spread this video + message.

via Every Drop Chicago

Every Drop Counts is a grassroots organization assembled in response to the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti.

A group of young artists and activists in Chicago came together with the goal to raise funds in order to send filtration equipment that will provide sustainable, clean bathing and drinking water (Thus, the name Every Drop Counts.)

We began by establishing a Hip-Hop and soul benefit concert—scheduled to take place in Chicago on Sunday, January 31, 2010. The benefit is meant to create awareness of the fundamental need and human right to access clean water. Water is an essential resource to the vitality of human life, it engenders prolonged community building and development.

We are partnering with local sponsors and non for profits to insure we maximize the urgency of survival in Haiti. Our primary partner in our efforts to facilitate the distribution of this critical resource to Haiti is the World Water Relief.

Hosted by, Aja Monet, Every Drop Counts Benefit Concert, will include performances by:

Fred Hampton Jr., M1 [of Dead Prez], Jean Grae, Mystic, Rhyme Fest, The Cool Kids, BBU, FM Supreme, Mic Terror, Mikkey Halsted, He Say She Say, Kids These Days, Haki Madhubuti, DJ Sean Mac, DJ Izzo, and appearances by countless surprise guests.

Venue:
Reggie’s Rock Club
2109 South State Street
Chicago, Illinois 60616

Time: 8 p.m CST

Price: $15, if purchased before the show ($20 at the door)

All proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales will go directly to World Water Relief, a Operating Division of Emergency Response Resources, Inc., a 501c3 charitable corporation whose mission is to deliver water filters to disaster areas and third world countries around the world. Clean water filters range anywhere from $4,000 to $4,500 a piece; WWR has agreed to match us up to $5,500. These water filters can produce one gallon of water per minute, providing immediate and long term use for a community of people.

We can start by saving a life…one at a time!

www.yele.orgIn the wake of our current economic climate, natural disasters and the quality of life being questioned and tested on a daily basis, it pleases me to see artists create music to add a sense of security and hope to those who need to hear that others care.

“You’re not a square because you care and have a good heart.” – Travis McCoy in “One at a Time”

All sugar-coated bullshit aside, it’s tough out here. I don’t need to go into specifics because everyone is struggling with there own issues on different levels. Currently, the wonderful people of Haiti are dealing with a crisis bigger than economics, music and security. Innocent lives have become victims to disaster and they need help. Doesn’t matter how much or where it comes from…JUST GIVE!

What saddens me the most about this situation is not only people, but OUR PEOPLE, bringing all sorts of hate and ill will to Wyclef and the Ye’le Haiti Foundation. As a manager and owner of a non-profit organization I will tell you that we do have a tough job. Everything we do is of no personal monetary gain for us (hence the word “non-profit”). Most of us understand our calling to service and answered the line. I am not saying that the funds donated to the organization ALWAYS went here or there (the facts surrounding the story are too shaky) but at a time like this, all that is irrelevant.

Wyclef and others are in Haiti RIGHT NOW pulling their people from underneath rubble and earth while we all have the luxury of staying totally unharmed detached from the comfort of our homes. Wyclef and Ye’le Haiti have worked tirelessly over the past years to spread awareness and encourage donations for their country. Craxy how it only took us 2 days to raise money that Haiti needed 2 years ago. #kayneshrug I’m just sayin’…

I could think of a MILLION things to do with $5.oo right now. After going to an HBCU, you find a way to make pennies stretch. Being the surviving Americans that we are I have faith that you can find a way to re-supplement that somehow.  I just want to ensure and iterate that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Please take the time to visit my online grassroots effort to build trees and forestry in Haiti via socialvibe.com/tuesdayknight. Yes, our Haitian brothers and sisters do need clothing, food and supplies but they will also need forestry, trees and plants to grow and re-establish their natural methods of commerce.  Please follow the link. Donations aren’t mandatory but accepted. By visiting the website and participating in a series of short questions (takes 5 seconds) YOU TOO can plant a tree in Haiti. Thank you for being you and please spread the word!
